BreakfastYou can enjoy a typical Italian breakfast going to a bar and ordering a cappuccino (in the summer you might want to try a cappuccino freddo made with cold coffee and milk) and a pastry, called cornetto in Rome, which you can find plain or filled with chocolate (cioccolato), custard (crema) or jam (marmellata). A typical cappuccino does not have cinnamon in it, but can be served with some chocolate powder on it and does not come in small, medium or large size like in Starbucks. We usually stand while having breakfast, having to hurry to work and not wanting to be charged more for sitting down. Some simply have a coffee instead of a cappuccino, a typical Italian espresso, which can be ordered macchiato (with milk), and enjoy several espressos during the day. But be careful if you’re not used to it; it’s very strong even if it comes in the smallest cup compared to American or English coffee and might keep you awake if you have it late at night! |
