In Italy, according to law, only Catholic weddings have both religious and civil value and they can be performed exclusively in a church. You’ll find some of the most spectacular and ancient churches in Italy and you’ll certainly be impressed by their beauty, majesty and sacred atmosphere.
All other religious ceremonies (“blessings”) require the couple to have a civil ceremony first, either in their home country or in Italy. Blessings are mostly celebrated in churches, but can also sometimes take place in castles, hotels or at other beautiful locations, especially if you are willing to bring your own officiant with you.
