It was a pleasure suggesting Shelly and Mario the perfect venue for a Tuscany-style wedding in Rome. A century-old farmhouse full of history, with a warm, cosy atmosphere sounded like what they truly needed. Both their maternal grandfathers came from Italy, and marrying here felt like a beautiful way to honour their heritage and keep their spirits close. Among the several wedding venues in Rome, this one is so dear to my heart, a one-of-a-kind place in the countryside, with amazing lake views, endless green fields and a relaxed, out-of-time atmosphere. It feels like being in Tuscany, just a stone’s thrown away from central Rome.
Shelly and Mario travelled all the way from Massachussets with closest friends and family to share the experience of a lifetime. They wanted every person in attendance to feel special and a foundational part of their marriage. Two unique ideas helped them achieve their plan: the ring blessing rite and a personalised seating chart. During the ceremony, which was held in an intimate courtyard, the wedding bands were passed from hand to hand and each guest held them for a moment to offer a silent prayer, a wish, or a word of love. A special way to begin their lives as a married couple with the support and intentions of the people who matter the most to them. They also decided to write each guest a personal letter, and these were all used to create a unique seating chart which was displayed during the cocktail hour in the lawn overlooking the lake.
The colour palette perfectly matched the farmhouse: soft shades of white, ivory and green, matching the bridesmaids’ emerald dresses. The bride looked radiant in her gown, named after her: “The Shelly”. The designer, Colleen Ferry of Chantilly Place in Chelmsford, MA, has an exclusive in-house line and names her gowns after the first bride who wears her design.
The wedding reception dinner was planned under a sea of fairylights. A long table decorated with flowers and candles with glass as the main material, in the candleholders, vases and charger to perfectly reflect the candles’ light. The pastel pink napkin added a touch of warm elegance.
After dinner, it was time for the popular cake show-cooking. The newlyweds helped assembling the traditional Italian wedding cake: a Millefeuille with Chantilly cream and wild berries. Drinks… many of them, and delicious Italian desserts followed, while the DJ played the couple’s favourite tunes and everyone danced under the porch.
It was a warm September night, full of love, emotions and laughters at this authentic Italian farmhouse, with its warm atmosphere and stunning views.
